Brooklyn Bridge

Finally, a warm sunny day. We didn't need jackets and the bridge was crowded with people out enjoying the sun. I've never been on the bridge with so many people. Made it a bit hard to enjoy the bridge, which I love. It is so beautiful and the story of building it is so amazing. And it still stands, handling more traffic than the builders could ever imagine.

More of Manhattan

And Hoboken.... Once M learned we were near the Cake Boss, we had to go see it. The line waiting to go in the bake shop was hours long, so we couldn't stay to try and go in and she was very disappointed.

L in front of the Rockefeller Ctr Atlas which is across the street from St. Patrick's. We went in there and also to St. Thomas, just up 5th Ave - which I think is a more beautiful church.

You see celebrities in NY - even dead ones. My friend treated us to Madame Tussade's wax museum, which was interesting. The girls took lots of photos and we were there for the grand opening of the Justin Bieber statue. He wasn't there, but the room was packed with press and school kids. We couldn't get near him. Johnny Depp was a favorite. I was impressed how many people my kids did know.

New York Vacation

Almost a month since we were in NYC. Time to post some photos.

We had a quick/long drive out, but all went well, except losing the car headlights in IL the first night. Brights worked, but not the regular ones. So drove the remainder of the trip with brights.

The drive was so easy. Got 80 and took it all the way to our relatives' house. Only got lost once we got off - so got to see Newark Sunday night! L drove part of the way. It was very easy to take the train into town. I still remembered the subways and using the swipe cards was easy. We learned you can only swipe a card 4 times/ entry, so we had to have 2 cards. We did a lot of walking and seeing the sights. Things have changed for the better in 30 years. Met my college friend for 1 day and cousin for 2 days.

Here is L, waiting for the train in the NJ station. The train rides were nice.

We're on the Staten Island Ferry.

Times Square - just to prove we actually were in Manhattan
